This site is Dedicated to the Men and Women of Sherman County Kansas that work with the various 911 Agencies. For some it is a fulltime job/career. With others they may have fulltime jobs in other lines but also volunteer to be firemen, reserve officers, and EMT's. If you check the names listed in each department you will find several that work fulltime in one department and also volunteer time in another.
Most everyone that works either full or parttime/volunteer
knows the people they work with. Yet many do not know who works
at any of the other departments. This can be especially true
for the dispatchers in the Communications Dept. Most everyone
is just a voice.

I bet everyone that works at any of the departments thinks nobody understands their job. Thinking other people just see the TIP OF THE ICEBERG. So I hope this Website helps EVERYONE to understand there is more than what you see. Usually a whole lot more underneath that the public or workers from the various departments don't understand. It may be rules and regulations we each have to follow to keep things in the department running or even to prevent lawsuits. Plus there is always alot more to any job than others can see. So just like the above picture shows there is a whole lot more underneath that can't be seen. Lets work together and get to know each other better.
Every 911 Agency is a link in a chain to serve, protect, and
in saving human lives and property. Each and everyone that
works at any of the 911 Departments are there to HELP the public.
The Idea behind this Website is to give everyone a way to learn
about the people who make up each of the 911 Departments in
Sherman County.
| This Website has been designed by Bonnie King.
I have been wanting to start a newsletter or something for all the 911 Agencies in Sherman County.
Just because as a Communications Officer....better know as Dispatcher....I feel like everyone should
know each other better when we ALL work together. I decided I couldn't afford to print out a newsletter
and mail it to everyone. So that is why I took a course to learn the basics of making a website. This
is a way that I can do a newsletter and get it out to everyone that has an internet connection. I'm
sorry that everyone probably doesn't have a computer but I'm betting that enough do that they can
help spread the word. Throughout this site I ask for help in getting material and anything you may
think needs to be said or shown that will help everyone get to know us better. I moved to Goodland in Jan. 1985 and as some may remember I was then a GPD Officer. From there I went to work for the Sherman Co. Sheriff as a Deputy. Then I took a break from Law Enforcement and did things like manage a Convience Store, the old Stop 2 Shop...now gone. Then worked at Louies where my main job was working the door, checking memberships and ID's. For the past 3 years I have been back in Law Enforcement as a Dispatcher, I mainly work the graveyard shift. One of the main reasons I returned was to get the insurance but I also missed the type of work. It is always nice when you can help someone and that's what we all do....help people! Right now I realize this website is plain looking compared to alot of sites on the web but with practice and help from all of you from all the agencies, it ought to shape up and be a great site. I'm still in the process of learning how to add all the bells and whistles to improve the looks of the site. WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO GET FROM THE DEPARTMENT HEADS IS THINGS LIKE WHEN YOU WANT TO GIVE ONE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES AN EXTRA PAT ON THE BACK FOR A JOB WELL DONE. LET ME KNOW AND WE WILL FEATURE THEM ON YOUR DEPARTMENT PAGE. ALSO WOULD LIKE LITTLE THINGS JUST TELLING ABOUT THE DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES AND WHAT THEY DO WHEN THEY AREN'T AT WORK FOR THE DEPARTMENT. |
